WD My Passport Blinking Light??

I have a 1TB Western Digital My Passport USB drive and i have noticed that even when the PC has been turned of that there is a slowly blinking light on the drive. Is there anyway to have the drive power down completely when the PC has been turned off and what is the point of this flashing light?

Yep, you need to properly turn the PC off i.e. at the wall or switch on power supply, otherwise it will continue to supply power to the USB ports. You can also set the drive standby timer using SmartWare.

Have you checked your BIOS settings to see if USB power can be disabled after shutting down?

Its highly annoying and i've only had my drive 1 day connected to a WDTV Live Media Player.

Once i turn off the WDTV the light flashes every 2 seconds.
