Hi all,

Since building my quiet new pc - I can hear a very faint high pitched whistle from my old WD7500AAKS hard drive.... Its just on the border of actually hearing it and is quite annoying...

Just wondering if there are any newer 1 or 2gig hard drives which are fine and dont have this whistling noise :)

Thanks

This is probably a good sign in a way that you new rig is actually quiet or you probably wouldn't notice this! But I get you. Ever since replacing a Fermi with a GTX 680 I can hear all kinds of weird and wonderful sounds that were drowned out previously. Quietest drives I've ever used by far are the Samsung F series and VelociRaptors. I would guess the so called 5400 rpm "eco" drives would also be quiet but can't comment personally. I'm sure other folks will recommend other quiet drives. Or SSD ... can't get much quieter :)
