Mixing memory

I think I now understand the differences between dual and triple channel memory – there is none except in the way they are packaged as two (dual) or three (triple) speed matched modules. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hence my system being supplied by OC with Corsair Vengeance CMZ6GX3M3A1600C8 which is classed on the Corsair website as being triple channel memory yet I have two sticks of it running in a Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 Dual Channel motherboard.

I have purchased a further 8Gb (2x4Gb) of Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 and I want to try and get all of this memory working together giving a total of 12Gb.

The full memory details are as follows
Corsair Vengeance CMZ6GX3M3A1600C8 1600Mhz 8-8-8-24 1.50v (2x2Gb)
Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.50v (2x4Gb)

I have 4 memory slots in the motherboard labelled DDR3-1, DDR3-2, DDR3-3 and DDR3-4.

DDR3-1 and DDR3-2 make up Channel 0 and DDR3-3 and DDR3-4 make up Channel 1.

The motherboard documentation states that if TWO memory modules are used one module should go in DDR3-1 and the other in DDR3-3 OR one module should go in DDR3-2 and the other in DDR3-4.

The memory shipped in my system from OC were located in DDR3-2 and DDR3-4.

When I insert the all 4 of the modules modules, which slot should each of the modules go in and will the bios Advanced Memory Settings need to be changed to reflect the two different latency speeds?

Should this combination of memory work?

Thanks for advice. System is working fine now with all 12Gb recognised and CPU overclocked to 4.4ghz. Will determine stability over the coming weeks.
