How do you separate the yolk from the white of an egg?

Suppose it's for when you forgot to do it.

Then I'll have to go find a bottle, or drink something. Cheaper to crack another egg.

Or just pick up the first plate, hold you hand open above the other plate with your fingers ever so slightly apart. Pour yolk and white onto hand and the white will slip through your fingers leaving the yolk in your hand; place yolk back on first plate.

That's how I do it anyway.

Well obviously not as it's not actually about cooking. It's a funny video because nobody in their right mind separates an egg like that. If you watched the video you would have realised this.

you were saying? ;)
maybe you should have put it in the youtube thread if you wanted it to stay in GD

I just use my hands a a sieve. Far quicker and less fuss that using multiple bowls / instruments IMO.

True.

But if you only have 1 sieve that you want to keep dry for use later...

This bottle trick may be faster if doing multiple yolks. Crack them all onto plate and then pluck the yolks out with the bottle... might give it a try...
