Can I get some opinions on the below prospective build.

My main reason for building is to play BF3 on ultra with 50-60 FPS and then gaming in general.

Can't really afford to go any more expensive (This comes to just over 1K)

Any place I could save some money on the components? Anything overkill? Anything incompatible? Anything missing? (I have a mouse and a 500GB SATA HD)

Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the forums :)

I redone the spec as the Bitfenix only supports ITX motherboards.

Sorry - completely forgot to say hello!

Thanks - looks like you've even saved me some money ;)

Good spot on the MOBO - wouldn't have noticed that!

Is it not worth getting the 16GB of RAM for gaming at the minute?

Is the ivybridge core better than the sandy? Higher OC?

Been a long time since I've built a PC - several years - so appreciate all the advice.

For gaming at the moment 8gb will be fine.

IB you would get a lower overclock but clock for clock IB is faster, I have not included a after market cooler.

Ah OK thanks.

Would I be able to OC at all on the stock cooler?

Also - prefer the look of this case - Lian Li PC-Q11B Aluminium Mini-ITX Cube Case - Black

Not sure if the cooling looks as good as the previous case though? Would it be OK for a gaming rig?

You should be ok for a small overclock, the fan would become a little noisy though.

Your spec should give a reasonable amount of gaming.

I had the same case before changing to the Cooler Master ITX case, I am not sure of the GPU would fit in their.

Good cooler, good RAM but steer clear of bulldozer.

For not much more you can get a Z77 DH3 Motherboard & 3570k. About £260, compared to the AMD's £240.

Well worth the extra £20.

hi guys, got my new parts arriving tomorrow.

Just wondering, will I be able to use an old IDE 200GB hard drive with the Asrock Mini Itx board?

(SSD will be my primary)

Would I have to get a converter?

Thanks

You will need a converter for the drive, No IDE slots on the board.

Thanks - they seem to be about £20. Might just stump up the extra for a SATA storage drive.

I went for this in the end guys:

KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
ASRock Z77E-ITX Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard
Samsung S23A350H 23" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy Black
SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black
OcUK Crusade 550W Dual-Rail High Efficiency '80 Plus' Power Supply
OcUK Value 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Logitech S-220 2.1 Speaker System - OEM (980-000022)
OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
OcUK Black Gaming Keyboard (5105GU

Thanks for the advice. I was going to get the Phantom 670 but they have been removed from the site. This one seems to get some good reviews and clocks are similar.

Didn't get the 3rd party CPU cooler just yet - may look to overclock in a year or so but think that should do me for now for most games. Oh - and no mouse as I've already got a G500.
