Hi people,

I'm a little bit out of the loop these days and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me spec a build. I already have a monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers and I'm not too price sensitive but am expecting to spent £1200-2000. I would like a pretty quiet system and need a system drive of 150GB+ and storage of 500GB+. I'd like to play a few more games (BF3, Max Payne 3 etc) and run a Dell U2410 monitor so would like to get the most out of it.

I was thinking of going for a Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz processor, Corsair Obsidian 550D Quiet Midi Tower Case, and either an X-FI Titanium or ASUS Xonar STX but am happy for an opinions/alternatives to these and recommendations on all other parts.

Thank you in advance :)

Stulid – a genuine question, not just trolling…

For a single GPU system why spend so much on the motherboard when even the Z77-D3H would be fine?

Cheers guys :)

I already have the OS and monitor.

Any further recommendations would be very grateful. I am happy to push the budget if it was considered worthwhile.

It would do the job and overclock to a nice average, but the option for SLI is there if needed and the new IR3550 power stages run cool.

As I'm bored waiting for data to copy between a couple of servers here's a slighly shaved version that saves a couple of hundred and does much the same.

The boot drive is a bit under the suggested 150GB, but it should be big enough for most people.

Loose the Blu-ray and drop the PSU down and another hundred could come off.
