I'm after some advice rooting my Note2.

I previously owned an iphone, so this is my first android.

Is it rootable, is it an easy process, anything I should not do?

Thanks

That dock is very nice and I reckon thats where its going to be honest in the next few years. You will have a monitor connected to the dock and your phone will be your desktop.

Just to let you know and share my experience with Mobicity and Note 2, if anyone was interested in the sim free LTE version of this device, i received mine from MobiCity - one of the small amounts of online retailers to sell this (only one i found anyway), on tuesday, took a week to deliver, but it came all the way from Hong Kong... defaulted to traditional chinese, but luckily i can read some of it so managed to get it to English. Mobicity has priced it £50 higher now since i ordered.

Data Speeds so much better than my 4S, and im not on a 4G tariff.

Does anyone put a shield/protector on theirs? I had the iPhone 4S before, and i never had one on that, and it's hardly scratched. I know the Note 2 uses Gorilla Glass 2, so it should be about the same?

Check with Samsung if warranty is covered in the EU....

Loving the Note II, amazing phablet. The screen is of course wonderful, battery life is great, S-Pen, all the features.

Regarding EE4G - at the moment it often switches between 4G and 3G+ depending where I am, but I'm just putting that down to it just launching for now. Though both are fast, when it's on 4G it really is like WiFi outside. Great. :)

Get your Note IIs everyone!

Got mine yesterday. Set everything up and here's my thoughts.

Great phone, I will never go down to less than 5.5" now. 5" phones like the htc butterfly J are practically the same size as the s3. I love the extra width, really is the perfect sized phone for me.
I don't own a tablet + won't need to now. Tablets are too big to fit comfortably in your hand, even the 7" ones. The micro sd card slot is great ( I have a 64GB micro sd), and the battery life is decent, love the removable battery!

Screen is also superb, I put it in dynamic for the OTT contrasts which look lovely on the amoled screen, although I might change it to natural later on if I think it looks better.
Speaker quality is astonishing, very loud + great when making calls.

Watching this video is an absolute MUST. It shows you how to speed up your note 2

Also Mx player pro, astro file manager, quick pic (better quality picture viewing) make the whole experience that much better.

I would recommend getting the sgp ultra crystal screen protector, super clear, smooth, and hopefully scratch proof from ebay.

Case wise - I got a cheap one off amazon for under £10. When the otterbox ones come out, I'll get the commuter

Make sure you get a protective one and not that appalling nillkin one from ebay that doesn't protect the phone at all or make it any easier to hold.
Just found the case I got - it's cheap now but offers good grip + the black one is decent quality, I do like it

Now the downsides.... The phone only has 10GB total space, and the 16GB is the only version available. I'm running out of space since I have about 7gb of apps. I store my music + videos + photos on the microsd card.

Now I just have a few questions for you guys... I want to root my phone and get app2sd. Then I'll transfer the games I have... Asphalt 7, Modern combat 3, Gta 3 and Nova 3(2.6GB!) to the sd card. These total about 6.5GB which will give me 9.5GB free space instead of the current 3GB. I've set all the pictures to be stored on the micro sd card.

I'm sure all will be fine once this has been sorted out, just wished that Samsung would've released the 32GB at the same darn time.

So how would I go about rooting the easiest way, and transferring these games?

agreed on the size thing. find an app called directbinder or gl to sd. both move data to the SD card

bad news is that native JB doesn't have apps2sd and that's why these apps are needed.

for rooting, go to xda and there's a stupidly simple method. i'll try to find the link - have the files still but not sure where the thread was

Just got this yesterday and absolutely love it, though I am coming from a desire hd! The screen and battery life are just epic, and it's just so damn quick at everything. I already know im keeping it. Fits fine in the trousers imo, as it's very thin considering the enormous battery.

Does anyone know if EE-based companies are still the only ones providing 4G Note 2 handsets, or are they trickling out of other providers now? I have no intention of paying the laughable EE prices for 4G, but I'm looking to the future when the Note 2 I intend to buy is out of contract and there should be more realistic prices.
