Just a quickie to make sure I haven't done anything stupid and all these will play nice together:

Already got a SSD and a spare 120mm case fan. Mainly going to be used for gaming @ 1920x1200, converting video and running some VMs occasionally.

Thoughts?

A few things stick out, I would go for a Ivybridge CPU to get the most out of the Z77 motherboard and if your mainly using it for gaming go for an i5 3570k and put the extra money into a better motherboard and CPU cooler.

If you've chosen the Sandybridge because they are easier to overclock then the CPU cooler you've chosen probably isn't the best choice anyway.

Also will the slimline DVD-RW fit into the Shinobi case ?

The case you have chosen is the "core" version that comes with no fans or trim, I know you already have a spare fan but you will also need the case trim and front badge.

I'm sure I've read bad things about Gigabyte mobos and I've never had an issue with any of my Asus boards, so going to stick with that. Only going to be moderately overclocking so I think the cooler master is one of the best bang per buck options.

Nice spot with the Sandybridge, definitely wanted Ivy, just derped trying to find it I guess ;]
