Hi all,

'03 plate Polo 1.4. Petrol cap locks/unlocks with central locking.....
....except it won't! :(
Usually have to press the cover in for it to pop out, but it simply won't work. It's like it's locked in place.

Anyone know of a manual way to open it, without damaging it?

Was told you could go in from the boot, remove internal trims/panels to get to it.

Would rather not try unless someone can confirm that it CAN be done this way.

Thanks for any advice offered.

Stop fannying around an get that interior trim out :p

Seriously though, if it's on a solenoid then yes, it should be accessible from inside the boot (it is on my E36 anyway). Alternatively it may be accessible from the wheel arch.

Basically, VW had to install it in there somehow and will have done so in such a way that if it fails, like yours has, they can easily get to it to replace it.
