From the moment you activate it yes. It won't go back and upload photos that you took beforehand. And it only keeps them for 30 days supposedly.

thats pretty poo that, iv lost all my pictures, and they dont show up on icloud, so im assuming theyre now gone, grrrr

if you did an iCloud backup it backs up all your camera roll by default.
Photo stream only holds 1000 recent photos.

No mate, you'd have to restore your entire iPhone from the iCloud backup.

If you had it set up it'll be from the last time it was left charging on standby.

Once you're done with that you can set up Photo Stream on your PC and it'll stick everything in a folder in My Pictures. On a Mac it'll work with iPhoto/Aperture.

To the website? You can't view the photo stream on www.icloud.com. You would need to setup the iCloud sync app on your PC or sign in on your Mac (I'm guessing you have a PC though).

If you've set it up correctly, the device which the photos were taken on should still have them. Believe it should have moved them to another folder.

That's what happened to me. Just had to move and transfer them again.

Did you ever do a backup in itunes at any point or connect it to the computer fr sync?
