Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card which is currently Asus 5850 1gb to a Sapphire HD 7870 XT.

I'm able game at 2560 x 1440 with most settings at max (not all games but most) with frame rates between 35-50. Would I notice a good enough improvement to warrent the upgrade??

Mt specs are:

Q9450 @3.2
Corsair XMS2 4GB 1066
Asus 5850 1gb

THnaks

I went from a 5850 to a 7850 (both highly clocked) and it was a massive upgrade....however I'm only at 1080p. At your resolution I would try to spend the extra on the 7950

A thing to remember is the 79xx series will handle stuff like AA much better and while you may not get twice the maximum FPS the minimum fps is going to get a nice boost.

+1
I upgraded from highly overclocked crossfire 6870s to a Gigabyte 7970 Ghz Edition and noticed a big difference in fps across the board, not only that, but as Phixsator said, with MSAA enabled too.
