Afternoon i have an Asus P5Q Pro, it has 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots and currently an ATI Radeon HD 4800 installed, unfortunately it doesn't support DX11, as such looking for an intermediary upgrade rather than a new system, the Asus HD 7770 looks like it would do the job, appreciate it is PCIe v3 but as i understand it's backwards compatible with v2.

Can anyone see a problem with this arrangement?

Any recommendations welcome. cheers

I don't see any problem with this arrangement - it will work as I've just put PCIe3 card in my 5 year old motherboard with version 2. A HD7770 should give you around twice the performance of a HD4850 while running a lot cooler and using less power.
