As above, but on the way to Inverness. Preferably south or at least no more north than Perth. Have a little one and needed somewhere interesting and fun to stop with him on the way.

That's north of Perth Although if you were willing to travel that far before you stopped there's the Highland Wildlife Park just before you get to Aviemore.

Sticking with the animal theme then Blair Drummond Safari Park? Or nothing to do with animals, Stirling Castle?

The castle and the safari park sound good but a bit steep price wise for what will be an hour or two at most stop.
