Purchased one of these yesterday after a lot of deliberation Dell Outlet perusing notebook reviews. Will replace my 6 year old Core 2 T6400. Should hopefully be a nice upgrade for the years to come. Will see how I get on with Win 8 and the obvious bloatware if I decide to wipe and use Win 7.

I bought my nearly 3 week ago now. Didn't even bother booting up the win8 hhd, I immediately swapped it out with my 256gb ssd and put a fresh instal of 7. Been great so far, had a few issues with the wifi and the track pad but its all just slight setting adjustments etc. and now everything its fine.

I also bought a HHD caddy for £10 and stuck the 1TB drive it came with in the ultrabay, no problems.

Yes, the lack of touch screen renders msot of win 8 useless on the machine. Win7 runs a dream. As for the track pad, I went into the synaptics driver settings and switched of all the little 'add-ons' like momentum and edge motion, helped A HUGE amount. They were obviously trying to add features to help with using it but its backfired hugely.

I also found this little tuortial on enabled 2 finger tap right click and 3 finger tap for middle click. It's brilliant.

So after spending a few hours on this, here's the solution if you want to disable Edge Swipe while still retaining two finger tap right click while using the Lenovo provided drivers to maintain the unique yoga features:

1. Disable Edge Swipe via the normal Synaptics settings: Control Panel -> Mouse -> Device Settings -> Settings -> Edge Swipe -> Uncheck.

2. To manually re-enable two finger tap, hit windows key + x, select "run", enter "regedit" then hit enter, and on the left pane browse to the following location:

HKEY_USERS\<SID name for your current user>\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2

3. In the right pane double click on 2FingerTapAction and change the value to a "2" for right click, or a "4" for middle click (I use 2). Also double click on 2FingerTapPluginID and clear any value it may have.

4. Next in the right pane, and this is what disabling Edge Swipe actually changes which breaks everything, find the MultiFingerTapFlags key and change it from a 2 to a 3 (it's originally a 3 before you disable Edge Swipe).

5. As a bonus, if you want to enable three finger tap for middle click, double click on 3FingerTapAction and change the value to a "4", also clear any value for 3FingerTapPluginID and set 3FingerTapPluginActionID to "0".

Unless you have multiple users, your SID is most likely the longest string, for instance mine is "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1669614795-426116693-2193257368-1003." Enjoy.

Hmm seem to be struggling locating a 170w adapter for a reasonable price, that and from what i can see the 650m ultrabay card will set me back £200 more hmm..

Anyone tried overclocking their GPU with a 650m/y500? my clock is locked to 790mhz and even when using overclocking programs it refuses to show anything higher even with MSI afterburner.

ideas?

My overclock is
overclock.bat
nvidiaInspector.exe -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,135 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,500 -setpowertarget:0,111 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,187500 -setGpuClock:0,2,1150 -setMemoryClock:0,2,2800 -forcepstate:0,5

NVI_0_1_1150_2800 - P5 state set in Nvidia Inspector saved as a shortcut

However....newer drivers do not support overclocking. I'm using driver version 310.90
