Hi all,

I am planning on cloning my OS Hard Drive to an SSD.

I know a lot of people recommend a clean install but it is a PITA and I have heard of many people cloning without any issues.

Which software would people recommend that will handle the SSD best.

I am not sure of whether to go for something free like Clonezilla or EASEUS VS buying something like Acronis.

Any suggestions/recommendations ?

I use clonezilla
http://clonezilla.org/

Don't forget to re-size partition using windows shrink afterwards if upgrading to larger partition.. I think Arcnois True image does this for you but it's been awhile since I used that. If your current OS partition is larger then the target SSD, clear off anything that's not needed or can be reinstalled later then shrink the partition to a manageable size.

ya somewhere I had a retail copy of arconis true image - but err not sure where its at - and that worked well ...
I copied my whole C drive (hard drive) - to a SSD and it kept everything just like it was; took awhile - but I had no fusses ... ended up reinstalling later on but still was nice.

nope but macrium was flawless in cloning SSD to SSD for me yesterday. worked as well as acronis IMO (free one doesn't do incremental though).
