Intel would be better for that GPU.

IE Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz would be best

then Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz

Or from AMD AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320

then AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz

AMD Piledriver FX-4 Quad Core 4300 3.80GHz

Don't get Bulldozer, not much good.

His nephew already has the 4100.

I think there could be a bit of a bottleneck, but I do not know much about the Bioshock series. Bulldozers where not great at gaming so it's very possible to not let the card reach it's full potential.

the new bioshock is only using 4 cores unless its a loading screen. I would still get a fx6300 or an fx8320/8350 if you wanted a AMD CPU upgrade. Have a look in the b grade section on the shop, last week it had a fx8120 for £79, though i wouldn't normally recommend bulldozers, it is great value (though wonjt help you much for bioshock).

Clock the CPU a bit higher, though i would have thought that you wouldn't get ANY lag with that set up.

So a 6300 would be better than a 4300 for gaming?

Cant get my head round that one.

Depends on the games. Many wont use the extra cores but some like BF3 and Crysis 3 will use them all. I was surprised to see Crysis 3 multi-player (just the multi-player) using all 8 of my 8350 cores at times. The price difference between a 4300 and 6300 is so little compare to the boost you get in some applications and games. If you are trying to decide between the two, get the 6300, the power usage has been lowered compared to its much more energy hungry bulldozer predecessor.

+1 for the FX6300, its actually a good CPU for new games like Crysis 3, Tombraider, probabley the up coming BF4.... full stop, and for £105.....

Or go for the FX-8320/50, whatever you do don't get another Bulldozer.
