Sounds about right glen8. I've just renewed our 4 bed house 5 living for roughly £150.

I always benchmark latest tariffs on my actual usage in 2009 so i have something static to compare against.

Over the years, few years it has shown :

2010 - 2011 npower fixed tariff £1,450 pa
2011 - 2013 go-11 fixed tariff - £1,511 pa
2013 - 2015 edf fixed tariff - £1757 pa.

these are all based on the gas and electric same usage so it shows the increase of tariffs rather than usage which is always variable. You can see that in the last year alone, tariffs have shot up.

If you log on to any comparison site it will "always" recommend a switch.

If you take note of the company and the plan you've been recommended, log off, log back on and give the exact same number of units used and state you are on the plan they previously recommended they will recommend yet another one.

It's hard for me to take them seriously!

Just had NPower up ours from 76 a month to 206. Only spotted it when I was looking at my bank statement. Anyway made a complaint (not that I've used the energy but on upping the number without even telling me).

It was probably on your bill, which you probably receive online, which you probably didn't check ;)

I pay £160 per month for gas / electric. There is myself, my wife and a 2 year old toddler. We both work full time and I can't understand why our bills are so high.

We live in a smallish 3 bedroom house and are with E-ON. I'm convinced we're getting ripped off.

I'm with Npower and pay about 80 a month and sounds like similar situation to you.

4 bed detach, 2 adults and 2 toddlers.

Elec is £80-90 every month.
Gas is £40 in summer to up to £100 in winter.

We pay 155 in every month which builds up enough in summer to cover the winter. That's with british gas online tariff.
