Oo I remember Sega world. Got the train down to London in the early days. You paid an entrance fee and all the games were free after that. We t in at openi g time and emerged very bleary eyed that night.
Went a few years later but they'd changed it so you had to pay to play. Was a major disappointment.

I remember one in Nottingham during the 90s that I think was owned by namco?

South shields mini amusement park thing has an arcade with a bunch of games although I've never bothered to check how modern they are

The older arcades at the back of the park used to have quite a few classics in but most were in bad shape. I don't think there's many left now.

I guess the fact that you can have something more powerful at home than you can in arcade pretty much killed the video game arcade stone dead. The big deal used to be going to play on something with amazing graphics and gameplay and you would wait months for the 'arcade conversion' to come to your C64/Speccy or Amiga/ST.

They [the Japanese] still have ways of wowing customers with things at the arcade you wouldn't have in your house tho!

I would trade my left nut for a collection of vintage arcade machines. Like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4 player arcade game! Or House of the Dead 1! Or a bunch of others I probably cant even remember the names of...

The only arcade I can think of is Casino next to Goodge Street Tube station in London. It has some classics and newer arcade machines like Super Street Fighter 4 AE.

Edit: Just seen it closed down in March :(

Stafford has 3 or 4 arcades but like with a lot of replies, just 100% fruit machines. Fairground and theme park arcades are still quite good though coz they have arcade machines in the way we used to know it plus a few older fruities. I like the mix of both.

I love it, going to arcades when i was growing up, nothing beats it, now 35 and i still love playing the likes of street fighter or various shooters on my cab, can't wait to get my son into it when he is old enough.

EDIT: ^^ Thanks :)

Remember when you used to go on holiday with your parents and the hotel was pretty much guaranteed to have at least one, usually two or three different arcade games? And you could easily go into different hotels even if you weren't staying there, cause they had different games to the ones in your hotel. And there were usually a good few arcades around if it was a tourist resort. So many different games you could play in a short space of time. Good times...
