Hi,

I've created a system image on Windows 7 Ultimate, and it's around 80GB in size (saved onto an external hard drive). The partition I created the image of is about 150GB in size.

What I'm doing is re-imaging but on another 250GB hard drive, so I removed the my original hard drive, put the new one in and started the re-image process - it seems to be taking forever, gone for a couple of hours and the progress bar hasn't moved - should it be taking so long?

Any suggestions for alternative/better imaging software if this is normal?

I'm just using the standard windows 7 system image and then rebooting via the system repair boot CD.

I've not tried that one, I've used Acronis True Image in the past, tempted to download the trial and use it.. is that any good, or Macrium better?

Is the disk ok? Definitely shouldn't take that long to restore an 80GB image even on a mechanical drive. It will usually throw an error right at the start if there is a problem.

Personally I'd just try running it again.
