i want to upgrade from 5870

was pretty much settled on gtx 770, but was waiting for this week's deals, but none of them are on the offer.

Should I go for this card instead?

I never changed from my 560ti when I built a new system, was the only component from the old system that stayed as I wasn't gaming a lot at the time. Really tempted to upgrade now I've seen this, what kind of performance jump would I be looking at? Well worth the money?

Running a 3770k @ 4.2 on a Z77X-D3H, 16Gb RAM. Screen res 1920 x 1200.

Cheers

I upgraded from a 5870 to a 670 and it was a big upgrade.

At £200 it's a cracking deal. But of course with the 7950 you do get the free games...

So where?
Its a custom design using MSI very best components. One of the best if not the best 670's on the market, as such the prices makes it a crazy deal for what is one if not the best 670's ever made. :)

Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping that it would complement a 680 heatkiller block for SLI.
I'll wait around to see if you magically get some cut price 670 ftw cards. :)

The 7950 prices have gone up a fair bit lately :( They were £239ish a couple of weeks ago with 8 games, now coming out at £259ish with 5. Without the games deal tomorrow they're going to struggle against a £200 670.

The 7950 and 670 will beat each other depending on the game.

Hey people,
I tried asking this question on the deals page but didnt get a answer.
Will this card on its own keep up with my existing unlocked 6950s in crossfire.
I want to go for a single card solution as i want a quiet PC.
Thanks

Its a little bit slower in fps than xfire 6950's but you may gain smoother gaming if going for this 670.

I see you have BF3 in your sig, i know in that game all ultra and msaax4 you never drop lower than 50fps on a large server, and 60fps is all i see with my 670 at those settings, so compare bf3 at ultra settings with your 6950's.

Unless you use low settings and no vsynch like *some* people do.

It'll give +60% or so, though you'll be able to run some games at higher settings because of the extra memory. It'd make some games that were barely playable now playable, e.g. BF3 37fps to 60fps, so it's worth an upgrade.

I've got an ati 5850 which still performs admirably in most things I chuck at it.

Whats the best upgrade? This or another 30 squids for a 7950?

The 7950 and 670 trade blows depending on game. When both overclocked they will, again trade blows depending on game. This is a damn fine 670 at a silly price, i'd personally opt for this over the 7950 unless you specifically want the free games that come with the card.

Thanks for that Ian, Think I will stick with what I have at the moment then and wait until £200 gets me at least matching performance, At present Bf3 never dips below 60 with all ultra and msaa x4 @ 1080p, If i Had access to the MM then I would probably go for it as could get some money back that way, how much could I expect for unlocked 6950's?

Do we think two of these be able to run BF4 max settings at 1920x1080? I'm still torn on a build i'm doing and Sli seems more stable the crossfire from a few posts I've read.

Was going to buy a gtx780 originally, also looked at dual 7950's.

How would two of these compare to the above?
