About £35M

And he only had 1 good season. Yes he'll get better and better. But not worth the £85M price tag. No chance.

'bout tree fiddy

But in all seriousness, values in football don't count for anything anymore. Based on the amount being paid for other players, and the values talked about for others, he's probably far in excess of £50 million. But I personally think £40 million max is his value, when you think of RvPs price last year

You would have failed at school for that poll. :p

I'd say £30-40 million.

Not guaranteed though. I'd love to see the faces of Spurs fans if he flops next season. They'll be wishing they accepted the 85.

All things considered, £50-60m. This is assuming he wouldn't be demanding a blockbuster salary and other things, though.

£100m~ odd is just insanity.

Van Persie is probably at his peak (turning 30 in a week) now or just past it. So I don't think you can compare Bale to him.

I think the best comparison would be when Saurez moved to Liverpool. Both would be the same age; approximately 24. The difference being Bale is more well known now than Saurez was and potentially Bale may be a better choice in terms of character/prospect etc.

Saurez was £22.8mil; that puts Bale at no more than £40mil in my books.

as purdy has said, it's whatever rm are willing to pay to get what they want.

simple. that is what he is worth.

i also don't know why he's being compared to strikers?

I can't put a value on him as I think football's gone crazy. As a Spurs fan I think he's irreplaceable as an individual player... but he's only one man and if with the money we get for him we get in 2 quality players we could be a better team overall!!
