Hi Guys,

So its been along time coming, I have a PC from a few years ago that hasnt been used in a long time since I move to Mac for Video editing I have now moved back to PC and Premier Pro. My PC seams to do the job without any major problems but it could be quicker and I would also like to use 4 monitors (3 Desktop Monitors 1 HD TV for playback)

My current specs are just about as ordered from OCUK back in the day:

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3 Optical Mouse - Retail (B75-00115) £19.99 1 £19.99
HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £234.99 1 £234.99
Acer P223W-D 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver £139.99 1 £139.99
Corsair HX 620W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-620HXUK) £74.99 1 £74.99
NZXT Lexa Blackline Midi Tower Case - Black/Blue £59.99 1 £59.99
Asus P5K-E WiFi Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £88.99 1 £88.99
Samsung SH-S203D/BEBN 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99 1 £14.99
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) £10.99 1 £10.99
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM £134.99 1 £134.99
OCZ Quad Channel Platinum 8GB (4x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Low Latency XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P8008GQ) £99.99 1 £99.99
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKS) £55.99 1 £55.99
Akasa Rounded Ultra ATA133/100/66 IDE Cable (0.45m) - Black £2.99 1 £2.99
OcUK Value AT/ATX "Kettle Plug" 2 Meter Mains Cable

So looking for more Ram, better Graphics card so while I am at it I might as well replace the MoBo and CPU as well.

Budget would be under £1000 under £500 even better.

Any advice very welcome.

Thanks

This should be a good improvement for your needs:

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £124.99
1 x Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £113.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (SH103S3/120G) £69.95
1 x Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PVI38G160C9K) £49.99
Total : £358.92 (includes shipping : FREE).

I'm not up on multi monitor set-ups, so someone else will need to advise you on a graphics card :)

The rest you should be able to reuse, HDD/DVD/Case etc.

Brill thank you, I would just need 2 sets of that ram to give me an upgrade as already have 8gb.

Is AMD better then intel for video then? I have always used intel.

But thank you given me a good idea, it might not be as expensive as I thought.

It's quite a bit faster than your current DDR2 ram, but this should do:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-021-AR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

That 8 core is great value for money, from intel I think you'd be looking at an i7 for better performance in video editing. I was aiming for best "bang for buck".

Brill, Thank you. Looks like I am just about sorted then just need a graphics card I shall post in that section and see what people can recommend.

Thank you for your help
