If you opted into google html5 trial on youtube at any time in the past year you'd have found any video dished up in html5 was smoother than the flash alternative. It's the same in chrome.

I assume it's either a problem in flash or the fact that it's all handled in the browser i.e. shorter pipeline. Regardless, an addon that forces in across youtube is only a good thing :)

Chrome has Flash built in. Unless you're disabling it.. (can you?)

This. You only need to install Flash seperately for IE/FF. Chrome has it built in, you can't uninstall it but you can disable it in Chrome's plugin section (Settings, Show advanced settings -> Privacy, Content settings -> Plug-ins)

Videos does feel it runs smoother in HTML5 but I sometimes find the player itself is a bit buggy compared to Flash on YouTube.
