Ex-Girlfriend loved the CSI series but this was all her PC could about play at the time and was probably more driven for her love of the show!

Discworld Noir mentioned above is excellent and highly recommended by me, Broken Sword too is great to play through as well (and available on iPhone/iPad if you own either, great for sofa playing!)

Shame no PS3 as Heavy Rain is one of my all time fave games, excellent story and execution

Agree, Broken Sword are my personal favorites.

If you are after something darker though give Still Life a chance, very gory but the story is good.

I'd suggest the old Tex Murphy adventures. They are FMV with limited First person view movement, but they are great story driven detective games.
