How about something like this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £269.99
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £227.99
1 x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE250BW) £142.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
1 x Corsair Professional Series HX+ 650W '80+ Gold' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020030-UK) £109.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) £99.95
1 x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX) HDD £76.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £61.99
1 x Asus 24x DVD±RW DRW-24B5ST SATA ReWriter - Black (Retail) £23.99
Total : £1,135.87 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Just add a case :)

Bigger faster ssd for boot and then faster hard disk for storage (I'd avoid the red branded drives are they're more targeted to NAS devices I believe and have odd speeds) oh and modular power supply.
Woops changed the 270 for 280x :)

Food for thought, I'm sure others will be along to advise you further, I just think a lot more can be done with the budget. :)

I would swap your items for these

YOUR BASKET
1 x Toshiba 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6GB/s 64MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA300) HDD £89.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £83.99
1 x Antec High Current Gamer 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £71.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G2133HC11ADC01) £69.95
Total : £327.31 (includes shipping : £9.50).

  • Extra 1TB of hard drive space for £7 more

  • Faster SSD

  • Better power supply...If you only intend running one card then you don't really need 750W

  • Faster Ram

You're best off waiting for the R290 to come out, it seems like it's going to be faster than the 780 for less money.

I wish people would stop calling their computers, "rigs". :(
