I just went to "Display" options and then changed it to 'Scaled' and selected 'more space' (which apparently looks like 1680 x 1050, in terms of the size of text).

u can select a res higher then the retina res?

It doesn't change the res as such, more the appearance of the resolution. Personally I have it in retina mode most of the time, as software like photoshop and lightroom that I use is designed to work with it. Plus I find the 1680x1050 appearance to make text way too small for comfortable reading

How does the 13" MBP look in scaled display mode (1440x900 say)? I'm interested in getting one, but worried I'd be losing usable screen area from my 13" Air, which is 1440x900 native, rather than 1280x800 (equivalent).

I use 1680x1050 and it seems like a really good res for this size, I feel even 1400x900 makes everything too big.

It's fun watching the UPS tracking. I've not ordered from the Apple store before.

My MacBook is currently in flight somewhere from Korea. Where will it land? Nobody knows!

Returned mine due to pink tint on the right side of the screen which I noticed the second the start up screen came up. Waiting for my refund to come through, will probably order the 750m version since a 256GB Thunderbolt external SSD would put my BTO in the same ballpark price-wise. Was a lovely machine while I had it though, the Iris Pro lived up to my expectation that it would make for a very quiet and cool machine with some nice battery life. gfxCardStatus is going to be my friend again, which is good since it's apparently fixed in Mavericks.
