vlc picture issue

when trying to view a video on vlc the picture looks muck, ive tried adjusting my screen resolution but it makes no difference, i'm assuming a setting in vlc may be the cause?

Codec packs are the devil, avoid at all costs.

You must have a GPU Driver issue or config issue somewhere. VLC plays anything you throw at it pretty much, bar a few obscure codecs with funny colour spaces.

I used to think the K-Lite pack was the dog's danglies, and it was ages ago. That was before MPC-HC/BE started decoding H.264 though internal DXVA filters.

Too true. Just use G-spot to find the codec being used, and download it if you don't have it.

There are various settings in VLC which allow you to change the video rendering. You can choose between OpenGL, DX, etc, etc. Tried seeing if any of these make a difference?

Does the file play OK with another media player? Try WMP just as a test.
