Live linux ISO for system testing?

What would you recommend? for testing the system stability and mainly to check the health of my Hard drive/SSD.

My system has been playing up this week,sometimes it wouldn't switch on..although i put this down to a dodgy case switch..however now my system wont boot..windows logo stops and nothing happens...second time its done this within the past two weeks,i had to re-install windows last time.

Parted Magic is pretty good for testing hard drives, the latest version does now cost $4.99 but there's some slightly older versions available for free download if you Google it.

+1 for Parted Magic. I even paid to download it since it's one of the more important live environments I use.

You could take your pick of any the Live Linux OS's. I'd boot from USB stick as it's quicker.
