Apparently the GT750m with 2Gb GDDR5 memory is as fast as the GT760m!

GT750m - 384SP @ 967Mhz+boost / 5000Mhz 128bit GDDR5
GTX760M - 768SP @ 657Mhz + boost / 4000Mhz 128bit GDDR5

The 750m has higher clocks but that isn't enough to beat out the doubling of shaders the 760m offers.

"Graphics Card

Nvidia's GeForce GT 750M is based on the same GK107 chip as the GT 650M, which has been available for a while, but is clocked a bit higher. In this case, the core frequency is 940 to 1058 MHz (Turbo), while the large 2 GB memory connected to a 128-bit interface runs with 1000 MHz (effectively: 4000 MHz). Dell has earned special praise for deciding to install the faster GDDR5 version of the GT 750M. With 64 GB/s, it has more than twice the memory bandwidth of the DDR3 model, which primarily speeds up the performance in high resolutions and quality settings.

Depending on the benchmark, the GeForce GT 750M even outperforms the GTX 660M and comes very close to the Radeon HD 8870M. The requirements for a strong gaming performance should thus be fulfilled."

Edit: Apologies I misread the article! Nevertheless still decent

The 750m is a decent mobile GPU (in fact all of the Kepler mobile GPU's have been decent ever since the 640/650m). 1080p might be a bit too much for it but games should be playable in general (medium settings ~ 35FPS or so).

Hello all and thanks for all the replies, ordered the Asperion 15 7000 laptop directly from Dell and it arrived in just two days, the all aluminium body looks very swish and the backlit keyboard is a nice touch, also offering touch screen:cool:
Fantastic value at £630
Very pleased
Have a great Christmas all

What are the chances of getting a Haswell processor for £500, non-existent?

Actually, just spotted a Dell Insipiron 15R (non touch screen) with a fourth gen i5 intel (which is Haswell, right?), 8gig of RAM and 1tb hard drive. Seems like a pretty good deal to me? Not too bothered about graphics as it's for my dad so he won't be playing games or anything.

Opinions welcome.

I'm in this boat.

Need help deciding between the Lenovo z500 - £600
(i7 2.2ghz. turbo boosts to 3.2/6GB DDR3/1tb HDD/Geforce GT635.)

Dell Insprion 15 - £630 (but could possibly get a few % discount as I work in education).
(4th Gen i5 6GB DDR3/500gbHDD/Geforce GT7450)

Or some built 14" Sky Fire III as quoted above/spec dependant - £600-700+

Would rather stay around £600, or less if possible.
But want something to use casually for some basic video/image editing whilst on the road, and some basic games (GW2/LoL) but as i'm a casual I'd want it future proof so that I'm not needing to update it in a year or two (I already have a PC that I can upgrade at home).

Hoping to buy this soon, so I can get it just before/into the new year.
