Firstly I don't think this is something OCUK sells so hopefully I'm not breaking the rules here by posting this, but if I am please feel free to remove the thread.

Does anyone have any experience of these devices??

I am thinking of getting one and am arranging to visit the factory to have a nose around, but I was wondering if anyone here has one or any experience or suggestions of similar quality alternatives?

Ive used a Playseat and thought it was too flexible and not the comfy or adjustable. This seems more rigid and stronger.

You can get adjustable add-ons for Playseat. Can't say I've experienced flexible problems…

It wasn't rigid, the pedal area flexed under hard use and the steering column didn't feel very good to me. Im not sure if there are various versions, but I used the one with the single bar that came from under the seating area into the pedal area and steering column at a friends house playing iRacing on his 10 foot screen, which was rather ace!

Seems a bit pricey if you ask me.

I can't really comment on a pre built steel frame cockpit as I've only used home made ones from wood.

Leave feedback after you go to the factory Housey

Will do. I've written to them requesting a visit this week, so will see if they mind me popping up some pics and stuff. If they are good I shall purchase when I am there. A solid feel is vital which is why attaching a wheel to a desk has never worked for me and you also need to be comfy with a good driving position which is something you can't get with an office chair.

Colne.... Up Norf.
I built my own similar setup using some 1" box section steel and a Porsche Bucket seat from a local specialist breakers, mounted my Fanatec steering wheel and pedals and a ButtKicker bass-shaker. Cost about £30 for the steel and i paid ~£150 for the bucket seat.

Unfortunately I've no recent photos of it as I've stripped it down as my wheel and pedals don't work with the Xbox One. :(

I have a gamepod for a few years now and it's very good, very modular with a lot of add ons for all our needs. only fault for me is that the seat doesn't tilt and there is some lateral wobble on wheel deck with T500 RS (it moves about an inch, but to be honest this is nit-picking since I have never noticed it when playing). that said it is much better and comfortable than a playseat - seat is a real racing seat and there is no center post between the legs. I added wheel casters (no drilling needed just screw them at bottom of chassis) so I can move my rig like a shopping trolley ;)

there are other rigs you may want to consider: Obutto, GT Omega or rSeat. Personally I would be tempted by the rSeat purely for aesthetic reasons, but it didn't exist when I bought my Gamepod.

Anyway I think they are all good and you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. can't say for sure which is best since I didn't try them all, but they can't be miles apart; not sure many have except for Darrin and Sean from Inside Sim Racing. http://www.insidesimracing.tv/ worth to check out their video reviews

just go for the one that fits your budget and gives you the "I want to buy" feeling. you will keep the rig a lot longer than your wheels/pedals

my 2 cents

Just found the Obutto on another thread here, and it seems amazing for the price - the R3volution is €639 and the older Ozone is only €359!

Seems very well priced to me, you could easily pay £300 for a large desk, half-decent chair and a 3-arm monitor support on its own!

I used to have an Obutto setup, it was pretty awesome. I sold it as I was daft and used it as an actual desktop replacement solution.

Thanks for the input chaps. My preference is for something rigid with a good and comfy seating position and I've discounted the playseat due to lacking rigidity and feeling cheap. I've just spent 700 quid on a new Herman Miller so I am happy to spend for quality as I tend to find with these things you get what you pay for.

Too expensive? :)

Back to reality... I have the GT Omega Evo and can recommend it.
