Not a clue. He's gone off the boil a bit, but still our best striker. No idea why KJ insists on playing Cassidy instead.

I don't think he ever wanted to come back from Scotland in the summer really.

Of course he didn't, he was banging them in for fun and now he's had to come back to Wolves in the 3rd tier.

Rvp looked awful for the latter half of last year. All the best strikers in the EPL currently have something. A bit of pace. Why is Suarez or lukaku effective? They are good players but also not slow. Rvp has become captain slow. And with poor form on top he looks terrible.

He looked awful for the last half of the season last year, rubbish. of 40 goals for club and country last year, he scored 17 in the second half of the season. He scored 7 in the last 7 prem league goals last year.

He has scored 7 in the league in 10 starts this year, he's scored 17 goals in 21 starts for club and country this season, horrible form for a player who has clearly completely lost it.........

He had one spell of not scoring a huge amount last year, most strikers have such a spell most seasons. For the vast majority of it the problem was the midfield/wingers being completely crap, if you went back to watch those games, RVP's movement/quality never changed, just the delivery. What is entirely natural for every striker at every club in the world is that when the service goes to crap, the pressure on the very few chances you do get goes way up and you miss the key chances. As soon as the midfield/wingers got slightly back into gear he was banging them in again for Utd, and throughout his "poor" spell at Utd he was thumping them in for Holland with no problem.

On top of that RVP isn't slow, the team plays differently to Liverpool, and Lukaku doesn't often use pace as a means to score, much more strength and he's had a half dozen woeful performances this year. Of late even while everton were winning he was miss controlling every other ball in to him, he just had a bad spell and didn't score for a bunch of games, that's football. He has one of if not the worst pass completion rates in the league, it was something like 38%, he's not quite as good as people make out, but he is effective, and as a striker he really doesn't make many simple passes back to midfield. He attacks, he turns and goes at defenders and looks for the through balls.

So captain slow with poor form now looks terrible. Form tells a completely different picture, 7 goals in 10 games in the league is great form, 17 goals in 21 games for club and country is great form, the ONLY thing he is lacking is number of games played. Being injured isn't an indication of poor form, playing badly and being unable to score is, RVP has done neither of those things. Last season he scored 17 in the half the season you said he sucked, so clearly not true. Rooney, who has 15 goals in 30 starts this year, who only scored 5 vs RVP's 12 in the league from Jan through May last season... is being said to be in great form while the guy easily outscoring him and only lacking games, is said to be terrible? Get a grip.

He really did though especially in the European Cup when we got kicked out.. not his fault but a few miskicks in the box were costly overall.

Typically we create d a lot of chances last season and the run in was really a canter.. was it the last game or one before when he was around the keeper and just missed? That was pretty much typical at the time.

With regards to this season he's been absent in a few games. I think Shamikebab or someone else said as much. So...If he was faster then he would be more useful but he has lost that yard he once had. .

How many world cups did Walcott miss through injury?

What a huge sham that is. Walcott has really started to become one of England's best players in the past two seasons. Can't imagine how awful that must be for him.

Wenger must be ready to hit the panic button on a few players now.

Rubbish Nick, utter rubbish.

Walcott must be gutted.

Anyway, a few more transfer things have appeared today for us:

Fabio Coentrao - a possibility, we almost got him in the summer. Ancelotti has ruled out any transfer dealings in January but a loan move surely wouldn't be unrealistic. He's not at all fit though.

Koke - Spanish press are now saying we're interested, which we likely are, but there doesn't seem to be much chance of us getting him. He's a regular in a team fighting for the Spanish league in a World Cup year, etc.

Vidal - From the Italian press. We have likely enquired about him but he'd cost well north of £50m and probably wouldn't want to join anyway. Would be fantastic though.

Nemanja Matic - Probably obtainable from Benfica, but not that cheap. Could try and do a swap deal with Anderson. Would be an improvement on all of our central midfield options from a defensive point of view at least.

Moyes seems to accept we need to sign players now, and urgently. The January transfer window stuff needs to be ignored and we need to pay what's necessary. Many of our likely targets could have a good World Cup, and then we might not even be in the Champions League - then what? Will it be any easier or cheaper to get them? No.

There's also the fact getting a couple of very good players in would lift the dressing room as well, which is currently a bit of a mess, no doubt. Even if we have our entire squad fit, big improvements can be made in the majority of positions. So this isn't about injuries.

We've not been linked that much with Ilkay Gundogan, but his Dortmund future is in doubt so we should break the bank for him if we can. Him plus Matic would give us a very solid central midfield two.

Hopefully this article is accurate, too:

The club is targeting a left-back and central midfielder and senior figures at the club have told Sky Sports News that Moyes will receive all the financial support he needs to make any moves.

All over the world...
Small consolation but he must know as well as anyone that we have zero chance of winning the WC anyway so he isn't missing that much :p

LOL yep huge blow for us and Wenger will need to spend or either get someone in on a loan then hit the summer hard for a decent striker.

Mind you even though hes out for 6mths, we were doing pretty well without him when he first got injured in the warm up for one of our games. Pretty sure we will see more of Gnabry, which isnt a bad thing starting in Walcotts place.

Yas786, think on the wing Gnabry could do a good job but we are extermely light upfront now. I agree we have to get someone now, even if it's loan or someone for the future, Podolski is our only fit option upfront and he's not really set things alight when we have played him there. In a sense I do agree with Wenger, all the quality players aren't going to be looking to move now and best we can do is a young player or someone that has fallen out of favour at their club, but hopefully not Balotelli.
Poor Walcott, just on his way back to form and then this. Think it's poor how people thought he was faking injury.

Robbo, Gundogan would be good for Man utd, personally hope you don't get him, the same way I hoped Moyes didn't offer more for Cesc in the summer.
