Testing a graphics card?

I ordered the Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Tri-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11226-00-40G) yesterday and I'm excited to see its en-route to be delivered later today by DPD (thank you OcUK! :D)

I thought I did my research thoroughly but now I'm seeing posts people have created with problems relating to either faulty units or incompatibility issues with the Gigabyte motherboards and I own a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 motherboard...

To alleviate my concern, are there any "standard" tests that I can run which would diagnose or test the capability of this card? I don't yet have many graphically intensive games and for now it'll just be plugged into a bog standard 1080p monitor -- nothing too taxing but I want to know if I have a dud sooner rather than later.

I've seen the benchmark software in the sticky by Admiral Huddy but is there anything else I can try?

Thank you! :)

So far so good... It seems stable and I can't seem to get it hotter than 73oC and that's stress testing for about an hr and a half :)

Documentation seems somewhat lacking in the box. What's the tiny switch on the top of the card for? :o

This is weird.
Is this out of the box result or did you try to overclock the card higher?
I had a score of 4700 in firestrike extreme with my gtx 780 and stock 4770k, then after clocking the gpu higher and cpu still on stock I had 5500 score. Try that maybe?

Thanks guys.

I'm running the latest bios (F5). I can't run the test at 1080p as it's not supported on this monitor (researching 27" 1440p at the mo to replace this one).

Sapphire 290X TriX @1010/1250

FPS: 44.7
Score: 1126
Min FPS: 12.8
Max FPS: 62.5

Platform: Windows 7 (build 7601, Service Pack 1) 64bit
CPU model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz (3503MHz) x4
GPU model: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 13.251.0.0 (4095MB) x1

Settings
Render: Direct3D11
Mode: 1280x1024 8xAA fullscreen
Preset: Custom
Quality: Ultra
Tessellation: Extreme

Seems a bit low?

What is the max resolution of your screen and what CPU clockspeed are you running ?

Just run this

I have turned off a couple of cores on my 4930k and run it @3.5 so it is near enough a stock 3770k

I am using a single 290X @1000/1250

I think going by my score above you do have a problem.

I don't think it is the card itself but it could be something like poor airflow in your case.

We need as much information as possible
Full system specs
What drivers you are using
Screen resolution
What overclock on the CPU
Some pics of the inside of your case
And anything else you can think of.

Aw, that's well annoying!

The test was run with the side panel off btw. Its also a new build with as much of the wiring running at the back of the motherboard as possible.

I'll take photos and fill in the details when I get home tonight, thanks :)
