I like his programs but he grates me a bit.

I think it's the way he asks extremely difficult questions in an unbelievably naive way.

It's probably the only reason he isn't dead yet, but the 'I'm genuinely stupid enough to ask you these questions because I don't know any better' act annoys me.

i love him. the "act" can sometimes be that he's trying to ask the questoins that the viewers are thinking, he's taking it from our point and how we might take it. watch his later ones and he asks the questoins like he used to but also explains why to the people.

I think his programs are really good.

My favorites have to be the 'Gambling in Las Vegas' and the San Quentin prison in America.

Most memorable bit in the prison episode is about some 25/30 year old who has been sentenced to something like 300 years, so crazy.

Yeah he is great and all his weird weekends are on Netflix(series 1&2) so going to have to re watch them, sure I've missed some off them.

I do like him and love his Weird Weekend stuff but found his recent one about the "adult entertainment" industry a bit grating.
It just seemed he was desperate to get to the bit where the performers acknowledged they were all broken/damaged etc etc and kept prodding and poking and generally trying to coralle them into breaking down on camera, instead of being like "meh, its a sleezy job but hey, it pays well!"

The thing is, it really works. He disarms people, so they open up and are honest and reveal things that you wouldn't get out of them if you went in all guns blazing.

Same here. I find his work very interesting.

One of my favourites is the 1997 porn episode, then in 2012 he did another one with some of the same people in it. Very interesting.

Yeah the director guy from the original episode who does a few years in the slammer on indecency charge related to the stuff he was producing was really changed . It was funny how he kept referring to Louie as 'Mr Thorax' in a voice that had more than a hint of 40 cigarettes a day

He is ok, the one where he visits prison is good.

+1

gave you a brilliant insight into a whole different world. american prisons are proper prisons though with proper gangs, etc. over here it's like a holiday camp for most.

With the crazy guy who said he would put a child in an oven for money....he really scared me haha

that guy was mental but he's obviously a product of his upbringing and the path he has chosen.

it can get annoying but his show wouldn't be the same without it. it's also ironic that he's pretending to be thick to generally thick people most of the time. i'm sure i've seen a few bits where people have caught on and basically just told him to leave or gotten their jimmies rustled

Bumping this as there are 2 new documentaries, one of which was shown last night. The subject is mentally ill criminals, and whether or not they can adjust to life outside after being cleared for release.

I only caught the first half on iPlayer before I decided to go to bed, but as with a lot of his recent stuff, I find it an interesting subject. It completely caught me off guard though, because I thought he was focusing all his attention on his Scientology project.
