5850 Upgrade

I've had enough of BF4 crashing with a memory leak (which I put down to AMD drivers) so time for an upgrade. I've recently had to replace my monitor, so I'd like to game natively at 2560 * 1440 if possible.

I'm swinging between a 290 and a 780. Money isn't tight, but I would like the best bang-for-buck, with a caveat that this will ideally last me as long if not longer than the 5850

Thoughts, without this turning into a flame war?

Either tbh , Went from a 5870 to a 290x myself also running at 1440p

Edit:

On a side note depending on the CPU you have , If it's a low end chip like mine(1090t), Mantle on the AMD cards does make a huge difference on BF4.

Nvidia camp is slightly more expensive (£40 i think?) and that's for a stock cooler 780, if you're needing Cuda, PhysX etc then that's what you're paying the premium for. Both offer near identical performance (slight lead for the 290 iirc)

Good to know, thanks. I was siding more towards the 290 based purely on price.

Forgot to mention my spec in the OP: it's an i5-3570K at stock with 8GB ram.

Just found the original receipt for the 5850 in February 2010. Think I'm due an upgrade

Both great cards, but given the game you'll be playing it really would be more sensible to go with AMD for Mantle support in Battlefield 4.
