Did you even read the 2 nd line?

Yes, I did and then I looked at the distance between Ukraine and Russia and the UK and Russia and saw that really there were near as damn it here and will continue to await to see what develops rather than get all sensationalistic about something that is done on a regular basis. I suspect significant numbers on this forum secretly wants a war so they can get their warporn fix. I'd rather not buy into the **** just yet thanks.

I love this bit from the article:

Except of course for when two Tu-160 Blackjack supersonic nuclear bombers made a mock attack run on Hull and the RAF never saw them until after they had turned for home :p

But they never entered UK airspace... Not that they needed to, their nuclear missile has long enough range to be launched outside UK airspace.

the Russian bombers got a mention on gogglebox, is this whole thing just media cashing in on hysteria, or is it a government agenda to highlight what was otherwise fairly routine by the sounds of it because the timing suits them.

Its usually made a bit of a thing of when it happens - wouldn't say it was "routine" but its not like a completely novel event. I can remember atleast 3 other times its made the headlines in the last decade.

that's fair, when I say fairly routine, I kinda meant in my own way that its not as you say a completely novel event. Just trying to figure out where our media sit on the subject. From what I've been told by people in the raf its much more common than we generally know.

It happens monthly but of course it isn't routine. That said, there's no relative effort at all from Russia to send two 50 year old turboprop surveillance plans nearby at the right time.

They're probably testing to see if we can afford the fuel to scramble a couple of Typhoons :)

That's the weird thing, the tu-95's are big, badass, and slow and outdated surely, its not really them that worry me its a bit like taunting lol, its the heaps of tu-22's and tu-160's that worry me more. Do not the number of tu-22's outnumber most western airforces combined!.

The only thing we should be afraid is their ICBMS and SLMBS.... Everything else, including Air-Force is rather pathetic in Russia, but it is enough to deal with pretty much any country which does not possess nuclear weapons.

As Obama said, which Scorza boasted about quite few pages ago.

Russia is just a regional power, that can land a nuclear warhead in Manhattan within next 5 minutes.... Obviously Scorza forgot the 2nd part.... but its Scorza after all...

I'm rather skeptical about reports from all sources about this matter.

I don't think anyone should feel comfortable taking sides in this matter. Personally hearing both sides of the story, this is a conflict fuelled by past differences and western agendas that are not being portayed wholly by the media here. The only thing I would prefer to come of this is the safety of the people within these areas of conflict. Again, that isn't being portrayed properly by the media either, but it would be interesting to know what's really going on there.

Also I'm not quite sure when the Soviet talk in this thread stemmed from but it's not terribly significant in current affairs...

LOL you seem to have developed an obsession for me. I'm flattered but I don't think it's going to work out.

The UK has a pretty good nuclear capability too, doesn't make us a world power.

It does make you a world power, nukes are the ultimate weapon, think about it again

Also I see a lot of underestimating for the Russian army and it's capabilities, El numero uno mistake one can make, those who done it in the past have paid the price tenfold

Edged blades are 1000s of years old but I wager if I poked you in the gut with one it wouldn't turn out too well for you. To dismiss something based upon its age without any assessment of whether it still meets its function seems rather wrong.
