Evening all,

I'm a little out of touch with hardware and I'm aware there's new CPU's on the horizon. My current rig is a Q6600 with 4GB RAM and I'm rapidly losing patience with it when it comes to rendering large files in Photoshop and handling a large Lightroom catalogue. Photo editing and general Interweb use is basically all the machine is used for.

I have a max budget of £600 and I'm looking for:

CPU
Mobo
RAM - Preferably 16GB
SSD for boot disk. I have plenty of nice disks for storage.

Let's see what you can muster up. :)

Looks great, thank you.

Is it worth it if I keep the 4770k you've speced up or pluck up for one of the newer Haswell's?

I have a fairly new decent enough PSU and case I will be using from my old build so I can save the money from this.

Thanks again

The new 4790k should be out next month, its suppose to have better IHS connection, so should cool better, therefore hopefully overclock a bit better. Slightly higher stock clocks, about 100mhz I believe

I'm hoping to not have to overclock the chip at any point, so do you think it's worth holding off for this new chip or not?

Thanks for the help :)
