Could be a multitude of things. If you're convinced it's not the battery then it'll be something either messing up the fuel/air mixture slightly or spark.

I'd expect you to notice any of those things wilst driving though. When is the fuel filter change on an e9x (if it's a schedule item)? I wouldn't be going ripping out the pump unless you're getting other signs too.

First thing to do as always would be check the codes, then do some air/fuel monitoring if you can

Thanks, I wouldn't be doing anything myself, it's under extended warranty.

I read that the issue with the fuel pump being that when the engine is cool and stationary fuel is sucked away from the engine hence the extra cranks until ignition. And that subsequent starts are fine because the fuel in the line hasn't yet traveled back whilst the engine is warm.

Any particular codes or hidden OBD menu I should be looking at?

Could be an earth issue.

Thanks but I think it's unlikely considering what I described above? with subsequent starts being fine.

Engine is warmer and the starter wont need as much current.

Any earth issue will limit maximum current available to the starter motor

If the layout is similar to the usual BMW 6 then not particularly tbh, you may be able to stick a multi meter on it in situ from underneath but actually getting at it needs a reasonable amount to come off of the intake side.

If its in warranty why worry though?

finally got round to installing my carbon fibre leather trim set, word of warning to anyone ever thinking about doing it......nightmare :p there are some evil people at BMW that designed it's fixations!! The dashboard was relatively simple apart from a stupid clip near the passenger side vent, but the centre console was just ridiculous, I had to remove half the cabin to swap it round. At least it allowed me to better route my mediabridge so alls well that ends well

Also had a squillion warning lights pop up the other day, took it to ocean BMW and they told me the ABS pump had failed and subsequently fried the DSC module, £3880 to fix

*strokes extended warranty*

I paid £100 and got a 118i for a week, not the greatest car but who cares when I could have had to shell out a small fortune!

The carbon looks good at least and the Z4m has aged really well. The cabin still feels special and their prices seem on the rise again.

What do you make of Ocean Penryn? Our 530d goes to Andy Howard BMW & Mini specialists in Redruth (great bloke and outfit). But the CC goes via Ocean and I've been nothing but very impressed so far. They feel a lot less like a slimey dealership and more like human beings that love BMWs (sounds a bit odd and gushy but compared to every other dealership I've been to they're ace!). Great service, I just wish we could afford an X3 from them :D. Which that Silver X3 pic is not helping :D. A pain CC tax is so high on them!

1 series is in for a second oil service next week and the 530d is back from a GB Oil change and once over..... Both need tyres. Makes me glad I've only got to pay for one :D. Ordering another 116d ED, from Ocean, hopefully next week. Trying to blag a 135i for a weekend first :D.

Another LE, bloody common as muck now :p

Loving mine with the PerfBM bits but needs a remap now, trip to Evolve soon

Hey, nice to find another 130i owner :)
How long have you had yours? Did you have fitted the performance bits or did it come like that? Is that intake and exhaust?

I think the car is fantastic. The only thing I think needs fixing (personally) is the back end which kinda leads me onto my next question ...

I've recently ordered a spoiler (OEM part) for my 130i however I had to order a primered one as BMW don't do one in Carbon Black.
My question is, am I best to have it sprayed and fitted by an indie, or should I get it done by BMW? I know it will depend on how good the indie garage is but can I typically expect a good job? I want the colour to match the rest of the car.
The garage I'm looking to use is this one ... http://www.autocraftwirral.co.uk
Thanks

I have zero complaints with ocean, good cornish staff, which as you rightly say have great attitudes and don't force deals down your throat. They make paying main dealer prices a much more bearable experience :)

That's most definitely not a small fortune

Great cars, lovely 6 pot engine :) Have had mine since Feb was completely boggo, have modded it since then and added parts.
Spoiler, ditched the run flats for Goodyear F1s and alloys re-done
Performance BMW Intake and exhaust.
Reconditioned and re-coloured front seats, rears were pretty mint.
Alcantara handbrake/gearknob gaiters, steering wheel and binnacle.
Carbon front spoilers and rear carbon diffuser.

Yep I bought the Aero spoiler aswell as something was lacking from the back end. I got mine from Cotswold (if your on Babybmw.net they are site sponsors and will give you a good deals) I had mine painted from a chap I know from Birmingham as I have always used him for afew years and his paintwork is always spot on.
If your using someone you don't know or haven't seen their previous work then I would avoid unless they have a bunch of nice cars hanging in the courtyard lol
Looking at their website they seem like a big op, compare prices and see what they say.

Ah, I got mine at a similar time. Do you have any pictures? :)
I haven't changed much on mine at the moment, other than install tints on the rear windows, although nothing too dark.

I was looking at the BMWP Exhaust, and BMWP rear carbon diffuser and Alcantara interior as well. Did you order it all from Cotswold and get a local garage to fit it?

I was also looking at the BMWP intake, but my insurer is funny and wont let me add an aftermarket induction kit, even though it already has an induction kit, unless I specify it as an aftermarket airfilter :/ because that's all it really is.

If you recall, how much did each of the parts cost you? I'm looking to replace my rear diffuser anyway as it's marked.

Thanks :)

Had a test drive of a 435d X drive today and was very disappointed. It felt heavy and unresponsive even in sport mode. The brakes also felt poor with little initial bite and didn't inspire confidence to push the car at all.

Overall not what I expected given my old E90 335d and my current Jag.

But it looks super bling though and has low monthly payments which is what matters now :(

Will, the new trim in the Z4 looks really, really good! top job and a great find (especially at the price you got it for tbh!)

I'm having mixed feelings about having just put my 335i up for sale! Going to miss it loads, great car, but I've had it 3 years now and decided that it's time to sell both that and the X3 and get just one car :(

Cheers  when I get the car back from the garage I'll treat it to a nice deep clean and a load of gliptone, then crack on with the quad exhaust, all the parts are sitting in my living room begging me to do something with them :D

I think a 335i will be my next purchase, or maybe an rs4 cab, although the latter has such horrendous fuel economy I'm not sure I can justify it given my mega mileage....Maybe I'll wait for m3 cabs to come down slightly....It's definitely a way off yet so I'll carry on tinkering with my zed for a while :)

I'm not sure in white it looked that good and a 43k car didn't have that low a monthly payment. Looks more likely I'll go for a M235i when I change.

Haven't taken any pictures yet as its still in abit of a state, need to get a detailer on it to sort the paintwork out as my OCD is getting the better of me lol

Yeah I know a local indy who fitted all the external parts for me, along with full suspension overhaul. I went for B12 Eibach Sportline kit which is slightly lower than the Pro Kit.

I bought most of the stuff from Germany as it worked out cheaper, there was a backlog for the BMWP intake, took about 5 weeks. Cotswold can get all the parts anyway.
Who is your insurer, intake doesn't make that much of a difference imo.

Top of my head parts were,
PBMW Exhaust 520
PBMW intake 460

I did have all the interior PBMW interior parts but sold them as my brother already had them for his coupe so I had mine all my oem stuff redone differently with lemon stitching because I like one-off stuff :)

If you want cheaper carbon parts speak to Teddy @ SSDD-motorsport.com and tell him I (Adnan) sent you and he can give you a decent price on parts. I got all mine from him as they are a lot cheaper than BMW eg. Diffuser 195 instead of 400+ from BMW. Check out his website, top guy.

Also sign up at Babybmw.net forum if you haven't already :) EDIT: nevermind seen your already one there lol

Thanks for that link. :)
I take it those parts on the ssdd site are copies? What is the quality like? Must be decent I assume if you've kept them.

I'll probably be looking into the BMWP Exhaust next, once I have the spoiler fitted. Is there much difference in the noise? I think the exhaust could do with being a bit louder when pushed, but not too loud that its boomy on the motorway.
I was looking at darkline rear lights as well but I might stick with the originals. They look good but without seeing them in person I think it might look a bit yoof. :/

I'm currently with Aviva. Cheapest quote by quite a lot compared to the others. I noticed you ditched the run-flats as well. Did you have to get a spare tyre or did you just get some tyre sealant? Did you declare wider tyres to the insurer?

Funny you should mention getting it detailed, I was looking for detailers the other day and came across this website, http://www.whitedetails.co.uk/index.php?id=155 , the finished results are stunning!

Oh, what's your name on babybmw? :)

Yeah known Teddy for years from other forums and BMW shows. They are copies but they are the best you will get for the price no complaints here and I'm a picky git :D

I told my insurer about the exhaust, insurers didn't charge me any extra for swapping tyres. The exhaust makes alittle more noise I wish it made abit more but then again I did come from a ZM Coupe lol but its just right without being OTT. The tyres I just keep a can of tyreweld in the back but I would just call AA lol
I have the darkline rear lights they do make a difference but depends if you want the darker look...

I would have just liked to the keep the standard ones but tint the indicator part as it just stands out too much for me.

Might get mine detailed at www.exclusivecarcare.co.uk seem the closest to me and have seen other work on detailingworld forum by them

I have also some electric folding mirrors but just need to get them coded so if anyone on here can code let me know :D
