Alternative to hiren's boot?

Yeah it has been a couple of years since it was updated but I still use it, I just can't find anything better to be honest.

Cheers mate. Saw it after a quick google but the tremendously out to date look of their website made me close the tab immediately

I was searching for alternatives myself last week to try and solve a windows 7 issue at work. I only found four. Hirens 15.1 which I already had, there are two different Ultimate Boot CD's by different authors and FalconFour's Ultimate Boot CD v4.61.
The latter was harder to get hold of but was more up-to date and a bit slicker.
I also use PEBuilder3110a and make my own as this way you can add more up-to date applications and the ones you want eg I have it booting to Mini XP with Partition Magic, DriveXML and Lazesoft Recovery Suite.
You can save your setup so if you ever want to add more software just get the plugin and the software add it to your plugin folders and then burn a new version !
There are a lot of pre-configured plugins which help. Its not comprehensive but better then Hirens etc which I was only using as I had exhausted everything else.
