Pikes peak is awesome. Guy Martin failed to break the 2 wheel record on a turbo'd bike this year though. Jeremy Toye got under 10 minutes on two wheels, though I'm not sure if that was turbo'd.

Remember the phrase 'power is nothing without control'

No doubt Guy's bike makes some impressive horsepower figures but anything running a GSXR 1100 motor is always going to be very heavy and not the best handling package in the world. Entertaining but not always the quickest way from A to B.

Jeremy Toye ran a modern ZX10R racebike, definitely not turbocharged. They're pretty much the bike of choice for racing in stock classes right up to World superbike level and even in stock trim will have electronics such traction control plus various different power modes. Ballpark 180bhp ish and 180kg or so wet.

My GoPro vid from the V8UK Power Tour (1st time it's happened). Really should have got new rear tyres PRIOR to the drag racing as I couldn't get it to launch properly even in 2nd due to the conditions. I went up against the Apple County Racing's "Snow White" at the end, who ran an 11.87 against my 2nd time on the strip (13.37).

Fun times!

Bought the DVD with this footage a while back, in the bargain bin at Halfords and not being familiar with the Escorts from rally days I was impressed at the sound and of course the way this one's driven

Apologies picture quality isn't great (and if it's a repost)

Impressive how the 600bhp R35 GTR keeps up with some of them cars!

You can hear in the I think it's the 1000bhp Supra they're talking about it spinning the wheels in 3rd and 4th. The R35 will be able to put the power down fully. Had to laugh at the bikers comment at the end as well.

Egg on your face BMW:-

Power is not everything, considering that's a real entry level spec Cayman from Porsche, no ceramics, no diff, heavier/bigger wheels, no vector control and no buckets.

Latest Cayman from Porsche gotta be one of their best cars for a long time! With rumours of a GT4 Cayman coming as well.

In fairness the BMW is great too, but the Cayman is in a different league when it comes to driving pleasure and handling ability. :)
