So many people with really nice new cars! I'd have been terrified about damaging it or similar!

My favourite first car is the old Beetle so far, and I'm jealous of the Karmann Ghia, even if it isn't quite how I'd have it. :p

But I would be very scared of scraping some of the nicer cars seen in here as well. Haven't put a mark on mine in the year I've had it so far, but it is nice to know that if I did, I probably wouldn't cry about it.

The first car i drove after passing my test was a Triumph 2000 for about a year(this was my dads spare/classic car), then I got myself a £500 1.8l diesel ford escort which was slower than the triumph. The Triumph even had power steering.

That would be the one. I remember a lady coming to buy it from me for £280, she nearly crashed it on a little test drive on a mini round about because the steering was to heavy for her. She still bought it.

Reading that someone had a Renault 5 with electric windows and central locking has made me even more sad about the fact that my car has neither.

Surely they didn't work? :p

Haha, well, the front passenger window was definitely slower than the others. Priority clearly was with the driver's side :)
Occasionally the car wouldn't unlock on the first attempt too!

So, the extra's were a little of an afterthought it seems when constructing that particular example of beauty and engineering prowess! :)

Mine was an Austin A35 1958 vintage, my then new wife bought it for me for £50 we ran it into the ground over a 2 year period, and about 18k we had a great time with it and were sorry when it blew a head gasket.

I then was lucky to pick up a Rover B6 2000 1966 and the difference was like chalk and cheese, sold it when we went to Germany a couple of years later. Parts were available 2nd hand cheap and easy to fit, we loved it :)

- How long did you keep your first car? <2years
- Were you sad to see it go? Nope
- What did you replace it with? Seat Ibiza 2.0L Sport
- Any fond or amusing memories of it you would like to share? memory, it used to randomly cut out, wether I was doing 10mph or 80mph!
- Did you crash it? How badly? yup, according to the ins co needed over 3k worth of work. I saw a smashed alloy, crumpled rear quarter and a new fuel filler needed. I remember the lass said the plastic pipe from fuel filler to tank was over £00 alone lol

The Ibiza was <2 years also :( patch of ice in car park, they got a replacement bumper, Ibiza got written off :(

New Car - Mazda 6 mps, is getting looked after properly haha

- Any fond or amusing memories of it you would like to share? Cut out a few times on the motorway which was interesting. I would say at high speed but would be a lie, had missed a recall for something. Was awesome having a 1.5 compared to other first cars, although did get some 'taxi' stick.
- Did you crash it? How badly? Nope, someone pulled out into me though needing new bumper and some twerp keyed it.

I imagine its dead by now, didn't sound so healthy in 2007.

Have any pictures? Beige and black isn't a combination I think I've seen before, but it sounds interesting. :)

I thought I had one on my facebook, but having just searched I can't find it, so I must have been mistaken. I'll be able to get one when I get home though :)

Had any luck with those pictures DJ? :D

Had a close call on the way to work this morning thanks to a van driver jumping a red. It is a weird junction so I could only see where he was coming from after I'd already tentatively creeped partially across the junction. Almost **** myself!

But, thankfully, the no accident status remains unchanged. :p
