Lots of grounds

Great list! Who do you support? Been trying to figure it out, but if you've been to all of Coventry's grounds as an away fan it makes the guess a little tricky, and the tendency towards Champ and L1. I'm going for a large L1 side? :)

Well, if he is visiting these grounds as an away fan, and not a neutral, you've got 3(well, 4 technically) Brighton grounds spanning Championship to division 3. Had to be in the championship in the last 3 seasons due to the Amex being on the list. Also some big premiership grounds. They are listed alphabetically, so no clue there. Tough one, but I'm intrigued. :D

2 crawley grounds and 3 Brighton. Got to be down south?. I'm guessing Charlton?

Thanks for the interest :o. First and foremost I am a Forest fan having been given no choice by my Dad :D. That being said, I have lived all my life (bar University years) 15 miles or so outside of Brighton and therefore have a number of close friends who are season tickets holders at Brighton.

So with Brighton being my local league side (prior to Crawley's push up the leagues) and therefore second team, I've often tagged along to away days with friends as opposed to going on my own to watch the reds lose.

With Brighton having had a number of promotions and relegations over the last 10 years or so, it's offered me the opportunity to visit a reasonable number of stadia, including cup games against the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and a playoff final against Bristol City in the Millennium Stadium.

From flying to Newcastle, to taking the ferry over to France to watch Brighton vs. Le Havre's second string team in a school athletics stadium (unlisted), it's all been a lot of fun. Sadly that phase of my life is over as life inevitably moves on, so I'm resigned to getting my football fix from the comfort of my sofa these days.

For clarification purposes, the only grounds I've visited as a neutral are probably Stamford Bridge (champions league night), Olympiastadion and Rasunda Stadium, with both Wembley stadiums as an England fan. The majority are as Brighton fan, a few as a Forest fan and a couple in the home end of Crawley's grounds.

P.S. As for Coventry, I've never seen them play at Sixfields, only seen Northampton play there. Hence why you would have struggled using that connection to infer who I support!!! :p I probably should have removed that entry from the list, but it automatically ticks itself on the site I use to keep track. Apologies.

I did initially think a southern team - after all, who in their right minds would want to go to Crawley? :p But it was the Coventry thing that took my attention.

That's an awful lot of away days of tagging along with your friends - they must love having someone they can turn to for away day company. I end up going with the old man, which is great, but when he's not around I end up travelling alone. I really don't mind the trips on my own - actually find them quite peaceful - but I just can't get my head around mates whom claim to be massive football fans, and although not being able to afford to see their over-priced Premiership team, will outright refuse to come to a local away game with me because it's not got the glitz of the Premier League, and there's no commentary or replays!

I was young and foolish, what can I say. :o

It worked out pretty well for both parties. I would share the cost of the petrol (we travelled by car to most games) but I didn't have to participate in any of the driving. Effectively it was like being chauffeured to football games with friends, enjoying a decent level of football (well sometimes), followed by a nice meal in a location recommended by the good pub guide. :D A good way to spend a Saturday.

I couldn't travel to games on my own (even home games), it just wouldn't feel right. I guess I enjoyed the social side of it as much as the football. To be fair though, you have to when you end up visiting places like Lincoln in the FA cup and getting battered 3-1, leaving you both numb from the performance and the sub-zero conditions you've been standing in for > 2 hours.

The New Lawn (Forest Green Rovers)

Liberty Stadium
Selhurst Park
