First go on my Kurt Kinetic Road Machine with TrainerRoad and a speed/cadence sensor for virtual power.
Just did the first 20 minutes of the Fight Club Sufferfest video. Really good fun and the attacks really broke up the tedium. Every time I heard the beep, beep sound I just shook my head and cried a little inside

Hopefully once I'm a bit more used to it and I've adjusted the turbo setup I can up those numbers a bit.

I used to put all my orders for wiggle through british cycling to get the plantinium discount from the membership, haven't needed to for a while now as I qualify anway.

But I only started cycling this time last year so had a lot that needed buying. Also includes my fulcrums - and running stuff for the gf so it isn't all my spending, honest 
I've got the hydromag version of that elite (tbh, you don't need the magnet) and I don't have any complains about how it functions. A complaint I do have though is that elite's power curves are completely wrong so you'll get hilarious numbers from trainerroad (my FTP is 350+W) but it is consistent so it doesn't matter that much.

But it's not fluid...), looking at other fluid trainers the Elite Crono Fluid Elastogel Trainer/ seems a good buy? (within my £150 budget too!). I'm trying to restrict my purchases to Wiggle where possible (to increase my discount!)

High five for studying in Aberdeen also. Graduated from Aberdeen University a couple of years ago!
Been getting an niggling pain on the inside of my lower quads/upper part of my knee, played around with my cleats (found some suggestions to move them towards the outside of my shoes) but doesn't seem to have made much difference, only seems to appear on some climbs/low cadence big gears. Obviously not seeking any advice! Time to get a proper bike fit I think as I'm gonna start to be putting in the miles soon to get ready for some sportives in the summer!

Replaced my cosmic carbone wheels with some lightweight carbon this evening:
Total weight of cosmics: 2875g (including tubes, tyres, QRs and cassette)
Total weight of new wheels: 2374g (including tubular tyres, glue, QRs and cassette)
Saved 501 grams
Cant wait to get it out for a test ride tomorrow.

Suppose I'd call 105 journeyman - eg for my commuting bike - and Ultegra the starting point for enthusiasts
. I'd certainly never buy Dura ace, other than the wheels.I have occasionally had the same but generally at the start of the season when volume of riding is increasing. It could be that you just need time to develop the musculature in that area. Keep cadence high. Focus on glute exercises like squats, clams or stepping with a resistance band around your ankles.
I use them for probably 70% of my orders! CRC, Merlin and Ribble maybe 15% and then 15% Aus based.
I find they have the best prices, easiest website to browse and one of the largest ranges.
Merlin website has gone terrible to browse on a tablet, it just doesn't work.
CRC is a little clunky and can be hard to find stuff.
The ribble websites not bad but lacks the same range as wiggle, I'd order more from there if wiggle didn't exist!
What wheels did you go for touch? Fairly deep dish I guess as they aren't super light for tubulars unless you have a heavy cassette too!
Wiggle have the greatest product range and easiest site to use. CRC have a limited product range and are rarely the cheapest. Ribble have an okay range and normally good prices, but their site is pretty poor for navigation. PBK normally have decent prices and there always seems to be a voucher code floating around which is handy.
Wiggle's customer service is just the beast for me. No hassle returns makes them the go to.

I think 105 is the point where quality increases start to experience diminishing returns, as above that it's all about lighter and shinier (and bolting on electronics)
I think a lot of us on here are fortunate enough to have sufficient disposable income that ultegra etc. don't feel expensive to us, and that says a lot about the demographic of the forum. This skews our perspective on things somewhat, leading to the second-most-expensive being considered the norm
Campag, which I use, doesn't tally exactly with shimano. Veloce is lighter and cheaper than 105, but it's 10 speed for example. That's what's on my winter bike. i run XTR (dura ace equivalent) on my MTB, and it's really no better than XT (ultegra) just lighter and more awesome.
One of the fastest people i know runs tiagra, because it's all he can afford...
edit: just seen that veloce isn't cheaper than 105 any more.
Shimano's pricing at the moment is incredible....

new 105 is epic value for money and IMO one of the best bang for buck groupsets.. but I don't personally see any reason to go above ultegra/force tbh

I dont think it's so much the price of the groupset itself that makes most people here consider ultegra the norm, more the price/spec of full bike packages available.
Generally, if you want a package with a decent frame with good quality wheels, etc, it will come with ultegra as the minimum.
It's often not a deliberate decision to choose ultegra over 105, for example, just that it comes as standard at the spec level the more serious cyclists are looking at.
I have microshift on my winter bike which is fine. It changes gear when I ask it to, and thats all I need. It's a little clunkier than 105 but I dont see any value in upgrading it when it works perfectly well.
Penis waving really, it's a bit better and if you can afford it then why not. The difference in weight between some of the components is quite substantial, a red cassette is a lot lighter than a force, but then it is 5 times the price.
I'd be more than happy with Force 22 on my bike.
Main reason I won't buy DA is the cost of replacement components, it's obviously not just the initial (huge) outlay.
I have DA9000 although might be swapping to Ultegra Di2 before next Spring.
Like anything, diminishing returns. Buy the fastest GFX card and its a little faster than the next one down but generally quite a bit more cash.
DA9000 stuff isnt overly expensive, dont pay list eg i got a new rear mech for £90 and not the normal well over £100 they are in the shops.
Just got a SRAM Red 22 cassette, £113 on Amazon, £185+ everywhere else.
Pays yer money takes yer choice.

£113 for a cassette is still bonkers.. it's like 4x the price of lets say 10 speed sram..
