Would 2x980s work well with this?

Would most games be able to run top settings with 2x 980s with this monitor or would you need to downscale?

You'll still need to downscale on most games, 4k is an absolute bitch on current tech (which is why I opted to go with a large 1440p monitor)

Games like Dragon Age: Inquisition would not be playable at 4K with top settings on a pair of 980s.

You'd be better off with 3 970's than 2 980's, or wait till march time for the big maxwell's

Even if you get 4 980s, there will be times where sli doesn't work with a particular game and you get awful performance

Depends on the game, you need to tinker with AA settings and sometimes lower presets to medium-high for 50-60fps (that monitor is 60hz).

I have the Asus 4K with SLI GTX970s

The problem you will have is at 4k, you will be maxing out the 4gb vram (or getting close) on the 980s

I've got a single 980 on a 1440 monitor and it runs beautifully (without aa...)
