£600 general purpose (some gaming and video editing)

Hi all,

Just helping a friend spec up a rig for general purpose type stuff, not a huge gamer or anything but would like to be able to play to a reasonably high quality occasionally; would also like to not have to upgrade in the near future!

So far on the wishlist is:
SSD (200GB+?) + Storage HDD (1TB+)
No overclocking
8GB RAM

(Dont need peripherals or Windows within the budget)

If you were looking at equal value it'd be a PowerColor R9 270 ~ £113, but it's no way near as powerful - it's well worth taking a punt on the Gigabyte R9 280. Of course you could skimp in other areas such as going for FX 6300/i3, smaller SSD/HDD combo and get a new R9 280, but then you wouldn't have as much CPU performance of course

Either play the games or sell the ticket/voucher to recoup cash.
