It's not all about the first easy difficulty play through. There's lots more to do now, and you don't even need to do the story play through more than once.

A full playthrough, at least. If you like a character at all you should do the four skill point story quests (Hood, Fisk, SHIELD Science Station and visiting Heimdall) on all three difficulties.

Yes, but now you don't have to play through the story more than once. Once you've lit those waypoints with any character, they are available to all the others, whether you've done the story playthrough on that character or not.

There's a couple of guides on the the MH forums to show you where you go to get the extras. They are a good explanation of where to go to get the extra powerpoints and potions.

Sounds good, I seen the numbers on steam and was surprised at the amount of people playing,

Might install it and give it a bash again this weekend, anyone play regularly that I could throw some questions towards on steam if I get stuck with anything :D?

Just ask here, or in the in-game chat, or at the official forums. The login you make for the game will be valid for the forums, and people there are a pretty friendly bunch.

There's a lot of stuff going on, so it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but the forum is full of loads of useful info and guides.

Bear in mind that the moderation is pretty hard due to the Marvel license, so swearing in chat, making various kinds of jokes may well result in harsh moderation, even if you mean things in jest.

Vision is on the TC now, but he needs a lot of work if he's going to be ready for next Friday's launch. Scarlet Witch's 52 review is looking quite strong, and will be released alongside Vision next week. Hawkeye and Black Widow are also getting major QOL passes and reviews that should go live in this week's patch and they're both much improved.

Age of Ultron mode is due this week. It's apparently something of a cross between ICP and X-Def; a five-man challenge mode where you do some run-ups against trash before fighting a boss wave. It comes in regular and cosmic flavours.

Lastly, Achievements are finally due this week. There's a lot of them - every hero has their own set, plus there's a heap of generic achievements. They can give anything from Omega Points to Retcon Devices, unique gear, visual effect artifacts and titles. The requirements range from "kill a boss in every game mode where they can appear" up to the rather ridiculous "Cosmic Prestige 42 heroes".

Friday is usually the day for patches or big server updates. They usually go offline around 2pm and depending on what's being added it can take a few hours plus.

They let you play a selection of heroes now all to level 10 however most characters don't start to impress until mid thirties. Punisher has just had a big re-vamp and is pretty damn cool now, although I admit I'm biased as he's a fave of mine. Storm is also a good all round character and Rocket Racoon is superb at higher levels.

** Just seen this in today's patch notes **

Marvel’s Avengers: Countdown to the Age of Ultron

Avengers Take Over the Starting Screen

As part of the Countdown to Age of Ultron, the starting hero lineup now features the core 6 Avengers! For existing player, you can now play these heroes up to level 10!

50% XP Boost for The Avengers

Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor will all receive a 50% server-side XP bonus during the Countdown to Age of Ultron!

Try out Iron-Man, he's got ton's of great builds and cool skills.

Not sure I like the idea of boosts for only certain characters. But everything that's been added in the last few weeks might make this the perfect time for me to come back and relevel Iron Man (had him at 60 pre-review and prestiged him when it came around but never did anything with him)

Happens every time. Site gives away random heroes, site is crushed by demand, no more giveaways by the time you find out about it.

And most of them wind up as Ultimate upgrades for people who already have the entire roster.

If you've been doing your GLF religiously from the start, you should unlock the Super Legendaries this week. Be warned that they cost 2000 Odin Marks and cannot be refunded at this time. Super Gungnir is good for everyone, but if you want to put one on a hero with a single damage type who already has high natural crit then the specialists (Bow of Apollo, Axes of Ares) edge ahead and Norn Stones is actually playable now if you're not skill capped.

New legendaries have had some stats changed, and the price has been reduced to 1k odins.

e.g. norns have dropped from +5 to +4, gungnir from 600/1600 500/1500, mkaarn now has 300 spirit iirc

There are no plans to allow you to refund the new legendaries, so no getting your 1k odins back if you want a different one.

*** be sure to login on saturday for a free Ironman mk43 AoU costume *** ;)

Tempted to give this another bash - I did enjoy it the first time, but the Hulk was super easy and I got bored.

It's still super easy, mostly, but in a good way. And if you didn't do much with your old account there's never been a better time to start a new one; Iron Man is available as your free hero, you'll get enough Splinters to buy two random boxes on your second day logging in, and if you log in tomorrow you will also get Iron Man's movie costume for free. (That's the Mark 45 Armour, BTW, not AOU Hulkbuster.)

A few things:

Steam have a bundle that gives you all six Avengers plus their movie costumes and 1000G for $40. That's great value for instant gratification if you don't want to take the risk, but if it's still around when the Summer Sale starts there's a really good chance it will get discounted further.

Age of Ultron Mode is fun, but make sure you bring a teleport as the zone is huge, the mission is timed and teleport to party members is disabled. It comes in four parts. The first wave you all run around killing mobs and picking up white orbs for rescuing civilians until you have 30k points. The second wave is point defence, guarding an EMP bomb. The third wave is killing five mini-bosses, and the last is fighting Ultron himself. Completing all waves inside their timer gives the maximum loot, including four uniques. The instance is endlessly repeatable, so you can farm uniques there all day if you want. There's also an achievement for clearing it in under 8 minutes, which is tough but doable.

Vision is sort of disappointing. I'm told he's better as melee than ranged, but he's the weakest new release in a long time and he's very dependent on his Slot 1.

Bonnie Scotland...and sometimes Denmark!
I havent played this since it was first released. I recently had £30 worth of refunds put back into my Steam wallet and was thinking about getting into this with the Age of Ultron pack that came out with all The Avengers.

With the new achievements system is it worth me starting a new hero from scratch? I think I only had Hawkeye and The Thing and got to about level 17 before.

Are there any guides available for what I should be doing, things like missions and crafting? Seems like quite a lot has been added and I have a feeling I might get overwhelmed :D
