Cali plates, but the rest of the pic looks so British?

Because it's obviously a picture of California plated car in the UK?

Wonder what its doing here. Looks a bit too blingflash for a US serviceman's car which is the usual way we end up with US plated cars on our roads.

I'd imagine if you're rich enough to buy one of them, you're probably rich enough to get it shipped over here if you're staying for a few months. Saves the hassle of hiring/buying something, and allows him to ignore the congestion charge, parking fines, bus lane fines etc.

A California plated G63?! Anyone important enough to have the ability to buy one of those will surely have provided transport on UK diplomatic plates rather than his or her personal car :p

Important enough? It's a car not gold bullion. There are probably loads in the US and it could easily belong to someone married to Embassy staff. Or it could just belong to a rich American who shipped it over because he felt like it. Arabs ship cars to the UK all the time and we don't have a conversation about it; why is this any different?

It's an incredibly expensive car, as you well know. Generally speaking an overseas embassy posting won't include you bringing your $150k car along for the ride, I suspect the reason lies elsewhere :p Government salaries

Because it's interesting and noteworthy, how many other California plated cars has anyone seen in London recently? This is a thread where we share and discuss unusual daily car encounters - this is very much an unusual daily car encounter so we're all having a good old speculation as to why its there, human nature and the very purpose of this thread! Everyone knows the background behind the Arab stuff so they've stopped being noteworthy now.

A few from today's local car show, it does bring a great selection of different cars, though youd think e-types were common as muck going off how many there were!

Nice. In my part of the world too - Ambleside and Windermere. You live around here or were you on holiday?

You're not wrong, has definitely been somewhat blustery the last few days... recently I seem to spend a good amount of my journey to work looking out for and then avoiding trees in the road!! :( Good times! :D
