Good cause and one that is often overlooked as many people assume arthritis is an 'old person's disease'. In fact it can hit you at any time, is pretty common and can be severely debilitating.
I will donate tomorrow.
Day 3, - 78 miles, raining all afternoon, but on the upside the inn were staying at is in an amazing place surrounded by mountains in Glencoe. Well happy don't even feel tired, must be getting fit! total for the 3 days - 246 miles.
Day 4 - 78 miles today, started off in the stunning Glencoe mountains and finished up here at Dumbarton, easier riding now we're out of the highlands but missing the mountain views already. 4 day total - 324 miles
Day 5, 85 miles, hard day! We started in Dumbarton heading to Moffat hoping for an easier day of flatter roads but it turned out it was all uphill again, last 20 miles was mega difficult especially as I'd run out of pork pies and red bull! I haven't mentioned diet yet, the food you get through is unbelievable, today I had a full English breakfast, toast and jam x 2, pot of coffee, belvita biscuits x 3, 6 pork pies, 2 x scotch eggs, dried fruit and nuts, 2 energy gel sachets, 3 litres of water with electrolytes, 2 mars bars, 3 cans red bull, protein flapjack and just had 10oz steak, chips & vegetables, can coke & pot of tea, probably cheaper to do the journey in a Bentley!
Tomorrow we're heading to Penrith in the lake district , but for the moment I'm resting my legs in a nice hotel room in moffat trying not to think about it!
Day 6, Moffat - Penrith (65 miles). Much easier roads now, went through Gretna, back into England and towards lake district which is all up hill and down dale not just up! Enjoyed the ride today after stocking up on pork pies this morning (the food of champions) and not too cream crackered tonight. Half way through the journey now. Off to Preston tomorrow. Mileage so far - 477. Cheers again for all the support.
Day 7, Hardest day yet - Penrith to Preston, 12 hours biking with 80 miles of gale force winds in our faces, to top it off my panniers fell to pieces on route, when I splash out £9.99 I expect a certain quality.
Day 8 - 69 miles today.
Good day today, light wind and sun!
612 miles so far and no punctures yet!! @ Whitchurch Shropshire
Day 9 - 72 miles all up and down hills through Shropshire - Herefordshire mainly country lanes sunshine all day, some of the hills were killers but really cant grumble about today staying at a nice Tudor hotel in Bromyard tonight, 684 miles so far.....4 days to go!
Day 10, 82 miles today, unbelievably hard hills through south wales and Bristol - last 10 miles were agony, even the flat stretches were hard after the hills like cycling through treacle, I actually checked the brakes on the bike thinking they were stuck on, but no it was just my legs totally knackered, coming down the other side of the hills was fun though check out the video 41.8mph! Total so far 766 miles.
South wales - *EDIT* "Hard" hills but great views
Crossing the Severn bridge, windy as heck
Before tackling these Devon hills you've got to prepare
Day 11, Clevedon (Bristol) - Crediton (Devon) 81 miles, good weather, like yesterday with big hills tough getting up but great on the way down. What makes the hills tougher is the bags on the back of the bikes with clothes, food, drinks etc (they weigh about 30 pounds) went on the bikes without them tonight to the pub for dinner and felt so easy uphill!! Mileage so far - 847. 2 days to go!
The countdown's on Only 2 day's biking to go before Lands End, 11 days and 847 miles under our belts so far from John O'Groats, soon be time for a few beers, Cheers for all the support!
Day 12 - 73 miles. . One of the hardest days for hills but weather good - not to hot or cold, chilling now at the Bugle inn, still no boozing though! tomorrow we hit the beer at lands end in a big way. Mileage so far - 920 miles.
