Hello

I've got a Corsair AX750 PSU running my current rig:

i7 4770K (Stock)
Corsair H100i
16GB Corsair Vengeance Blue (PC12800)
Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK
Inno3D GTX 780Ti Reference 3GB
Corsair Force 3 120GB
Soundblaster Z
5x 3.5" Hard drives

So I'm wondering how much more power I can draw through it, I have sent my GTX 780 away Inno3D for repair/replacement and I have a reference GTX 780 Ti just now.

So I was thinking about getting a second 780 Ti and running SLI, but I'm not sure if the PSU can handle it.

What do people think?

Cheers

Yes it would handle it ok. The 780 ti is pretty hard to get hold of now though (At sensible prices) so unless you can get a 2nd hand one for sub £200 then it probably isn't worth it.

If you have access to the members market then keep an eye out in there as well.

I just looked at some 780ti SLI reviews and power consumption is all over the place even with similar test rigs. One site claimed 592w with most coming in around 650w. The highest was 792w but that was on a overclocked X99 system. Even at 650w it doesn't leave you much headroom. Guru3D recommends a minimum 800w for 2 way SLI.

Ok so the question now is whats the BEST PSU now to buy. Superflower seems to be well liked.

I want to buy the best I can the now as PSUs never seem to need replaced much, I've had a 720w Ernermax and this Corsair 750w for ages and they are still going near flawless.

If you really want to replace the psu then take a look at these:-

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black £123.95
1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £114.95
1 x XFX XTR 850W '80 Plus Gold' Fully Modular Power Supply £99.95

The EVGA G2 850 is built by Superflower and is basically a Leadex Gold with a different fan, no tacky led's and a whopping 10 year warranty.

The XFX is built by Seasonic and based on their X series units.

So what would you say is the best option, I'm a heavy PC user who racks up about 50+ hours PC time with about 20-30 hours of system load (Gaming) per week.

I'm most likely going to add a second GPU as well after this change, should I be aiming for platinum even higher efficiency models?

Your AX750 is fine.

The quoted 792w but that was on a overclocked X99 system would have been draw for the wall not the output, and probably on some thing like furmark or an extreme benchmark.

The AX750's maximum power use from the wall would be around 820W, and you gonna get nowhere near that.

The "Best" option is the superflower 2kW unit, followed by the Superflower Titanium 1600W, then the Corsair AX1500i and the SF Platinum 1600W which I'd say are equivalent.

But I'm guessing you don't just mean money no object, in which case your current PSU should be fine.

I have two GTX 780 in SLI with an AX750 and I'm getting occasional lock-ups. In my system I'm getting close to the 750W rating of the PSU and I'm wondering about that.
