Car to replace Nissan Micra

MG TF expensive insurance, engine worries and 2 seats may not be practical
Focus Mk1 solid, cheap to insure and repair. 5 decent size seats
Ford Fiesta can't really complain about anything
Sport KA again 2 seats and they rust quicker than you can say wire brush and fill
C4 - mate had one. loads of problems and it's a Citroen

I was looking at fiestas but i only found a few for around £1,500 and they all had problems!

im not saying all fiestas have problems but the ones i saw around my budget did.

What problems did the Fiestas have? I've noticed that prices of fiestas are holding much better than 206/207/208's and Corsas now do

Front springs snapping is only common fault I know of on mk6 / 6.5.
1.25/1.4 engines are basically bomb proof as have been around for an age.

Coil springs on front has been mentioned by my Ford friends but the others they have said are coil pack problems, trim problems (plastic trim breaking and/or failing) and a tendancy to wear front tyres if they are cheap. The last one probably applies to any decent car these days and the coil pack failing is something anybody should be aware of

This image of saabs being tough, they did build cars with safety in mind. But crash research has come a long way since the 90's.

The car is just getting old now, also the lack of power steering and constant noise of rattling is a pain!
