OK, so its been 10 years since my maths A level, but I am struggling with the definition of the following term.
If vers θ = 1 - cos θ
What is vers^2 θ ?
If vers θ = 1 - cos θ
What is vers^2 θ ?
As sin2θ=1−cos2θ,
vers^2(θ) would equal sin^2(θ) no?
SOH CAH TOA *neutral face*.
Ah, my mistakeNot quite right.
2sin^2 θ = 1 - cos 2θ
=>
2sin^2 (θ/2) = 1 - cos θ
=>
vers^2 θ = 2 sin^2 (θ/2)
Not quite right.
2sin^2 θ = 1 - cos 2θ
=>
2sin^2 (θ/2) = 1 - cos θ
=>
vers^2 θ = 2 sin^2 (θ/2)
Ahhh I think I get this. Will check for myself once I get home and in the company of my maths text books. Thanks!
Not homework at all! It's part of the Chilton-Huddlestone formula and I'm definitely not a student! Need this for work!

What the flip is a θ?

I think it's theta, though I can't remember how it's used, I'm far too dumb these days, not that I was ever that smart.
